The novel follows Chloe Saunders, who is a normal high school student, until she starts to see ghosts. She is sent to the Lyle House, a group home for disturbed teens, where she must try and get better before she can go back to school. However, she soon discovers that residents in the Lyle House are not all seemingly normal and spends most of the book trying to work out what it is going on. This book was fun to read, although, I had a few problems with it. First, the beginning of the book was slow paced and nothing to important to the plot happened. The beginning was mostly about Chloe meeting the other residents and her having a freak-out at school. Secondly, the plot was very predictable. I knew what was going to happen and what Chloe would discover before she found out. Even with the predictability, I enjoyed every single moment of this novel. The Summoning just pulled me into the story and kept me interested. I would definitely recommend this book to anyone and to finish the trilogy since it gets better. Rating - 4/5
