The prequel trilogy continues with a heavily controversial addition to the saga, mainly as Jar Jar Binks is still alive. Begun, the clone wars have with the Battle of Geonosis occuring midway through the movie, and they do so in full force. With a pretty good mix of computer generated imagery and practical effects, the main issue many people have is the writing, though in my personal opinion it’s just bad enough that it’s really fun to poke at, especially if you have experience with internet meme culture. Even one character simply saying “Possibly” has become a rather successful meme on its own. Whether you like sand or not, it’s an essential part of the Star Wars saga to watch at least once. Don’t do Deathsticks kids. 3.5/5 could have been great with better writing. @wolfteen of the Hamilton Public Library's Teen Review Board Star Wars Attack of the Clones is the second movie in the Star Wars prequel trilogy. The Attack of the Clones is set ten years after the events in The Phantom Menace. The galaxy is on the brink of civil war, with thousands of planetary systems threatening to secede from the Galactic Republic. Later, Senator and Queen Padmé Amidala evades an assassination attempt and Jedi apprentice Anakin Skywalker becomes her protector. His mentor, Obi-Wan Kenobi investigates the attack on Padmé Amidala’s life. Soon, the trio witness the beginning of a new threat to the galaxy, the Clone Wars. If you are interested in knowing more about what happened before the Star Wars original trilogy, I would recommend watching this movie. Much like the first one, it gives us a better look at the lives of Obi-Wan, Annakin, and Padmé. At the same time the plot is just as cringing and confusing. The movie is definitely suitable for kids, however even for adults, the movie is hard to follow. The special effects add to the annoying aspect of the movie. I would rate this movie one out of five stars. @Sapphirereads of the Teen Review Board of the Hamilton Public Library 1/5 stars. Star Wars: Episode II - Attack of the Clones was released in 2002. It is a space opera directed by George Lucas. It is, in my opinion, the worst content ever produced by the Star Wars franchise (apart from the Star Wars Holiday Special). There are so many things that are wrong with this tragedy of a movie: terrible acting ,which is uncharacteristic from some usually great actors (might say something about the terrible writing), cartoony CGI that has aged terribly, all driven forward by a clunky and uninteresting storyline. There is no emotion to be found anywhere in this movie. The lightsaber battles are cold, choreographed dances with no heart, the romance is unbelievable and lacks chemistry, even the environments the characters are in look so fake and sanitized. Gone are the days of the romantic and epic stories from the original Star Wars trilogy trilogy, now everything is a cleanly manufactured product meant to sell merchandise to children, and please fanboys with a thrity thousand lightsaber battles. All of this “cleanliness” means there is no magic to this movie, a far cry from the Star Wars moments I know and love. One of the few things I can praise, as always, is John Williams score. He somehow manages to craft a magical and memorable score for every Star Wars movie. @Joaquin of the Hamilton Public Library Teen Review Board
