It's funny that some people thought this was jazz funk. Rather this is ground zero for industrial music.
NOT for Jazz or Funk fans. . .the title is a parody - this band/art-collective (read about them on Wikipedia if you care) are "industrial music" pioneers.
"In a smash and grab that testifies to both increased musical ambition and a relentless urge to wrongfoot audience expectations, 20 Jazz Funk Greats finds the band ... snacking on not only the titular funk and jazz, the band also takes touristic zig zags through exotica, rock and disco", ultimately describing it as a "kitsch detour toward mutant disco"
I own up to having no idea what this is about. I do like avant-garde and atonal music, even go to live concerts of it. I could find no music here, If anyone gets it, please enlighten me.
Okay, here's a start. Please consider the notion that any of this music was either Jazz or Funk. Consider the notion that just about the only entity that would consider it either or both of those categories is the NYPL. And likely went no further in thinking about this than that of reading the cover.
I'll leave it at that.
