Shante Keys tours her neighborhood at New Year's in search of black-eyed peas, and meets up with neighbors who celebrate the new year with different food traditions rooted in their countries of origin. A charming story with a tight rhyme scheme, this is a great introduction for kids to various cultures, and adults may be struck by just how many words rhyme with "peas."

Wonderful celebration of different New Year's traditions as Shante Keys walks around her neighborhood trying to find some black-eyed peas to complete her family's New Year's feast.
