"My name's Henry Dudlow. I'm fifteen and a half. And I'm cursed. Or damned. Take your pick. The reason? I see demons." So begins the latest novel by horror master Dave Zeltserman. The setting is quiet Newton, Massachussetts, where nothing ever happens. Nothing, that is, until two months after Henry Dudlow's 13th birthday, when his neighbor, Mr. Hanley, suddenly starts to look . . . different. While everyone else sees a balding man with a beer belly, Henry suddenly sees a nasty, bilious, rage-filled demon.

I'm disappointed in the very anti-climactic way this book ended. Although the title doesn't bury the lead (the boy does indeed kill demons) it was not until the final few chapters; and even then I was expecting an EPIC battle! Out of the supposed 40-some demons that the protagonist knew of, he was only able to kill a fraction of that, and only one or two were written about in detail. The backstory about him and Sally made no sense and you learn that the demons could easily relocate to another city and start over again.

The book jacket boasts that Stephen King fans will love this story. I think Stephen King fans will yawn.

This was a very good book, I really loved the ending. I hope that the novel continues, the boy in the book has a very interesting life. It reminds me of some stuff I've been through in life.

Not as tense or interesting as other novels by this author. Meh.
