This album has a total of 14 songs and all of which flow together perfectly. This is 100% one of the Chili Peppers more underrated and unappreciated albums. Tracks like Look Around and Monarchy Of Roses will be stuck in your head all day for their fun sounds, whereas songs like Goodbye Hooray will make you think. The classic RHCP funk is still there and strong with some little twists in certain songs. This is a good album for new RHCP fans to listen to. It introduces you to their sound but doesn’t throw it all at you, it is a soft but funky album and overall a great one. 4/5 Stars. @sideswipefirefight of the Hamilton Public Library Teen Review Board

Bought this CD back when I first discovered RHCP, and didn't like it as much as the others, almost never listened to it. One day I listened to it fresh for some reason and Monarchy of Roses became one of my favorite energy songs ever. Years later, when I owned almost no music again and was looking for something familiar, was delighted to find it in the Arapahoe Public Library (was the only RHCP album on the shelf). Haven't even listened to it yet, and it's been a week. It's just nice having it there and having something to look forward to.

I was prepared to be disappointed as I am a hude John Frusciante fan, but the new guitarist, Josh Klinghoffer, makes a decent contribution on a few tracks and the overall sound of the record has grown on me. On a few songs it almost feels like the songwriting has been influenced by the same principles behind Franz Ferdinand, for example, i.e. songs for girls to dance to...and that's fine by me!

A truly fine album from a band that has matured musically in astounding ways. I wondered how the band would fare minus John Frusciante but the music, if anything, has gone in very interesting directions, with major South American and jazz influences everywhere. Flea lays down the most intoxicating bass lines of any bassist out there and every song is built solidly upon his line. Highly recommended.
