As an Agent of Death, Madeline Black is responsible for escorting the souls of the dearly departed to the afterlife. Maddy's position may come with magical powers and an impressive wingspan, but it doesn't pay the bills. And then there are her infuriating boss, tenant woes, and a cranky, popcorn-loving gargoyle to contend with. Things start looking up, though, when tall, dark, and handsome Gabriel Angeloscuro agrees to rent the empty apartment in Maddy's building. It's probably just a coincidence that as soon as he moves in demons appear on the front lawn. But when an unholy monster is unleashed upon the streets of Chicago, Maddy discovers powers she never knew she possessed. Powers linked to a family legacy of tarnished halos. Powers that place her directly between the light of Heaven and the fires of Hell.

Another great read by Christina Henry.

Not bad, but it felt as though the writer was rushing though the novel rather than really thinking the main character's reactions through. Still, I did like the character in general, so I may read the next book.

I was so caught up on this book, it is amazing...but, the book I checked out from the library went from page 119 to 201..although no pages were missing. I have never been so disappointed. I have to find a full copy of this book!

Very fast paced action. I actually checked several times if there was a book before this because it dives into the action so quickly. You do get caught up in the story though and there is a lot of information being tossed around which will continue to be relevant in the future books I'm sure... There also some questions that will hopefully be answered in the future!!!

if you can ignore how fast this seems to move, and enjoy fantasy then you'll enjoy this one!
