Ned is a young man with a very special gift. As a boy, Ned discovered that he could return the dead briefly back to life with just one touch. Now a pie maker, Ned puts his ability to use, not only touching dead fruit and making it ripe with everlasting flavor, but working with a private investigator to crack murder cases by getting the dead to name their killers. But Ned's life is complicated when he brings his childhood sweetheart back to life and keeps her alive. Life would be perfect except if Ned ever touches her again, she'll go back to being dead, this time for good.

Such a fun show! It has the flavor of "The Princess Bride" so anyone liking that movie would probably like this show. Only two seasons--ended way too soon!

This is one of the best TV shows that ever was. It's such a disappointment that it was cancelled; the writing was brilliant, the acting hilarious and the comedy usually quite intelligent, which is probably why it was cancelled, the trend for TV shows at the time it aired was more towards Kardashian-related reality TV or "housewives" reality TV & shows like "Jackass" (*sigh*) so it didn't do well in ratings, but is absolutely worth watching!

A pie-maker with magical powers... a girl named Chuck... a whimsical world of capers and quick banter... too good and quirky to last

Film noir
Quick, witty dialogue
Double entendre humor
Hyper realistic sets
Fairy Tale-like
Sly references to classic films
Unique
Seriously: Not like anything you have ever seen in episodic TV
Characters you care about

Good show, colourful and bright. Mysteries are written well and concluded well. Characters are lovable and it still has its charm. It is too bad that a Season 3 wasn't created....maybe they'll reboot soon.....

A good tv show. Good acting, good plots and has a good mixture of romance, comedy and mystery. Very well done.

The second and final (sniffle) season of one of the more offbeat shows of the '00s. Clearly it was too strange and original for network TV and it's a pity it didn't find a home on cable. It's mixture of charming romance, morbid humor, visual wit, crackling dialogue, and pies has few precedents. The main actors are all terrific and have some of the best rapport I've seen in a cast. It also has an impressive array of guest stars, including (this season) George Segal, Nora Dunn, Stephen Root, and Missi Pyle. It's the rare TV show that has a very distinctive look to it. Cut yourself a piece of pie and enjoy. Creator Bryan Fuller currently does "Hannibal." Executive produced by Barry Sonnenfeld ("Get Shorty," "Men in Black"). The extras on this set are pretty minimal, so hopefully this will get a deluxe box set at some point.

Sometime a show is just too good or idiosyncratic to last very long on network television ("Twin Peaks," "Freaks and Geeks," "Undeclared"). "Pushing Daisies," created by Byran Fuller, ran for two season in 2007-2009 and while it was critically acclaimed and has something of cult following, it didn't last. Frankly, it's impressive that a show this offbeat and original lasted that long. If you can't accept the premise, which is handled with deadpan wit, than you should probably stay away. If you can, then you'll find a charming, visually creative, droll, and terrifically acted show. The four leads have great chemistry together and the show always finds the right balance of whimsy and slightly dark humor. Paul "Pee-Wee" Ruebens, Molly Shannon, Mike White, and half of Garfunkel & Oates guest star.

Sexual Content: Ned and Chuck are in a romantic relationship. Few kisses through plastic wrap. A scene where a woman enters her boyfriend's house, only to reveal that she is naked (we don't see anything). A scene implies a couple doing **married people things** several beloved characters meet their significant others
