Did Henry Kissinger sabatoge the 1968 Vietnam peace talks for his own personal gain? Did he orchestrate the secret bombing of Cambodia? Did he authorize covert operations to overthrow a Chilean President? This explores how a young boy who fled Nazi Germany grew up to become one of the most powerful and controversial figures in United States history.

The director (Eugene Jarecki) suggests that Henry Kissinger was responsible for massive military cover-ups in 1960s and 70s.
This 2002 film is a documentary film inspired by Christopher Hitchens' 2001 book "The Trial of Henry Kissinger."
A recipient of the Nobel Peace Prize, he served as National Security Advisor and later concurrently as Secretary of State in the administrations of Presidents Richard Nixon and Gerald Ford.
After his term, his opinion was still sought by many subsequent presidents and many world leaders.
Kissinger played a dominant role in United States foreign policy between 1969 and 1977.
During this period, he pioneered the policy of détente with the Soviet Union, orchestrated the opening of relations with the People's Republic of China, and negotiated the Paris Peace Accords, ending American involvement in the Vietnam War.
Yet, the film depicts that Kissinger played a key role in a secret bombing campaign in Cambodia to disrupt North Vietnamese army and Viet Cong units launching raids into South Vietnam from within Cambodia's borders and resupplying their forces by using the Ho Chi Minh trail and other routes, as well as the 1970 Cambodian Incursion and subsequent widespread bombing of suspected Khmer Rouge targets in Cambodia.
The bombing campaign contributed to the chaos of the Cambodian Civil War, which saw the forces of US-backed dictator Lon Nol unable to retain foreign support to combat the growing Khmer Rouge insurgency that would overthrow him in 1975.
Kissinger's involvement in the bombing campaign is far from peace-sought activities for which the Nobel prize was handed out.
The film reveals his dark side in an unmistakable and most convincing way.
