Not the best Jack Reacher novel. I love all the others, but not this one...
A lot of crazy things happen. It isn't clear why. The things you do come to understand are implausible. Reacher covers vast distances (literally). He knows…

Saw this item in this morning's library web under "Recent Activity" page, and realized it is missing in my Completed Shelf that lists 24 Lee Child books + 10 eBooks. Anyway, recall that it is a good thriller with smart dialogue in a…
The story slogged on and could have been written in about 300 pages instead of the unnecessary 600+ pages. Too much detail that could have been eliminated.
Book #19 chronologically, after Bad Luck and Trouble (2007) and before "Guy Walks into a Bar..." (2009):

Normally enjoyed his books, but his rants against religion and those have faith in something other than oneself are over the top. He also supports those who desert their military responsibilities just because they disagree with the…

This is one of my favorite Jack Reacher stories (62 Hours is my all time fave). Geography is a character in this story; it's like a puzzle & the reader knows at all times exactly where Reacher is in the puzzle. The story requires some…

Another solid, entertaining effort from Lee Child. It goes a little over the top with the ending and some extraneous political commentary. Not his best but doesn't stray too far from it.

Nothing to Lose? How about my interest! A very very slow burn before Lee Child gets to where he wants to go in this novel and the "big reveal" is not worth slogging through all the uninteresting blah blah.
I have been reading the…

I enjoy the way Lee Child tells a story, with a fascinating display of Master Writer ability, tying what is sometimes two or three tales then ties them altogether in the closing ends.. Lee Child's Jack Reacher character is truly more…

The author tried to add some up to the minute social commentary on the war in Iraqi. This plot line dates the novel, The main character, a man of violence, uses unmitigated violence on other human beings, gets involved in two distinct…
Lee Child's Jack Reacher is certainly a solitary man going it alone against all probability of his winning and yet he does win. I don't expect Lee Child to come up with a protagonist that I will ever identify with: the character is…

Two of Reacher's life rules play prominent roles in this story: "People leave me alone, I leave them alone. If they don't, I don't." and "Get your retaliation in first."

Normally, I love the Jack Reacher series, but this one left me flat and gave me no reason to care for the characters. If you're looking for good thrillers, look at other Lee Child titles. (Of course, you have to expect every author to have…
